Dating with humor can become a man’s best tool for approaching women. Here’s why. When it comes to seducing women, a smart guy knows it’s not just good looks or a fat wallet that’s needed to get the girls. It’s about something that only one man in a thousand really understands.
In this article we are going to learn about a little know technique that psychologists have discovered to greatly influence the attraction from the opposite sex. If done right this technique can give you an incredible “Celebrity/Rock Star” like mystique and magnetism amongst women.
When the human brain is exposed to humor, a couple of really cool things happen. One of the unique traits of the human psyche is that it cannot psychologically dislike someone with whom you’ve shared a really good laugh with. Laughter starts off a chain of events inside the brain of a person that can be harnessed and used to our advantage when trying to make a killer first impression with women.
Don’t take my word for it, let’s check in with a psychologist to learn more about this interesting phenomenon.
According to Dr. David Lieberman, author of the best selling book Instant Analysis. “Research shows that our liking a person can influence how physically attractive we think they are.” Hey this is perfect for us guys who don’t have the body and face of Brad Pitt.
Once a person starts laughing with another person, the natural inhibitions and barriers we have toward people who are new to us start to fade away. And now a likeability factor starts to take over during our contact with this person.
Okay so you're at a party, you meet a girl and you start to throw out some killer jokes, stories and whatever at her. The spark has been ignited. There is some likeability of you to her. And according to Dr. Lieberman….with her liking you, now influences her mind to start finding you more attractive. And guess what?... the more attractive she finds you…. the more she starts liking you.….If done properly, this cycle can keep repeating itself and become stronger and stronger.
But wait…your conversation isn't over yet. You keep talking to her in a very humorous way. You probably just made her forget about the shitty day she might have had, and guess what? You become a real breath of fresh air to her, and she starts thinking in her mind "There is something really cool about this guy."
Hey, we have all seen “That Guy”, you know who I’m talking about. That Guy who just seems to draw a crowd around him at parties or any social gathering. He’s the guy who has everybody in stitches with his jokes and antics. And he has everyone hanging on every word whenever he tells a story…especially the ladies.
Dr. Lee Berk of Loma Linda University in California has been studying the effects of laughter for some time now. To date Berk’s published studies have shown many benefits of laughter on the immune system. The most eye opening benefit is, that laughter releases endorphins into the body.
Endorphins are the substance that is produced by the brain that is used as the body’s natural pain killers. Endorphins have been found to have a similar effect as morphine, one of the most powerful synthetic pain killers know to man. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of a shot of morphine, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
So….let’s get this straight, if laughter is responsible for sending endorphins into the body that can literally get someone naturally “high” or “stoned.”….Hmmmm …..Hey dude, wake up will ya. Do you see the incredible potential here? Are you starting to get the picture or do I have to paint you one?
Okay, you are at a party and a cute girl catches your eye. You slide on over to her and introduce yourself. You start making a little fluff talk and start creating some opportunities to inject some of that killer humor you are about to learn…..and then.
She starts having some great laughs and she is really gettin’ into the conversation….and you. So all of a sudden you excuse yourself to go take a wiss or grab another beer. Guess what happens? She has just experienced the “Drug Like Effect” of YOU for a few moments….and now you’re gone. The natural high of the Endorphins wears off…. and she now starts searching for another fix….searching for guess who…….YOU.
Human beings never realize just how powerful endorphins are, or the power of laughter has on the human body. And women especially can’t understand the mystery of why they are drawn to a guy like this. You will often hear them say things like ”I feel that there is just something about him…but I can’t put my finger on it.”
But they know one thing for certain. Whenever they are near him, around him or with him….they feel GREAT. A natural high will usually do this. They find themselves very intrigued and mysteriously drawn to him….and this is regardless of how he looks.
And I wasn’t the only one. I showed all my buddies how to do this as well and when we get together whether it’s just the two of us or a bigger group, we can really make things happen…..BIG TIME. At a party, we become the central focus. At a bar or night club….we become “The Party.”
And when you know the right things to say to get these reactions out of a woman “On Demand”…. Quite simply… by Default….
What if someone comes up to you at a party or social gathering and says “Hey guys listen to this, what do you get when you (enter the rest of the lame ass joke here.) Well right away you know something is up. If it’s your buddy you might just roll your eyes and say “I give up..what’s the punch line.” Or if it’s someone you don’t know, you might try to be polite, listen to the obvious usually worn out joke and chuckle a bit so he doesn’t feel too much like a friggin’ idiot, especially if the joke is lame.
But what if you’re just having a conversation with someone new you just met at a party. You find yourself and this girl progressing through the usual fluff talk. And you start finding some common ground that you are both interested in. So this looks to be a typical normal conversation by two people just hangin’ at a party. Let’s say she just finishes telling you she is at this party with her girlfriend who is a nurse. And you say…
What a coincidence I have a friend who just finished medical school a year ago. And he just got his medical license taken away from him because he was caught having sex with one of his patients…….It’s really sad cause he was one of the best veterinarians in my home town.
Now, I have used this joke countless times and it gets a great response. Even though you might be one of the few who don’t see the humor in this joke, this is still a classic example of the necessary parts that make up an effective good joke.
Like I mentioned earlier, psychologists label the event that causes laughter in humans as “cognitive dissonance.” Remember the human brain cannot hold two conflicting thoughts at one time. This creates an anxious tension in the mind that needs to be released. And in the course of hearing something humorous the relief is LAUGHTER and in my experience if done right….HYSTERIA.
So what exactly are two conflicting ideas? Well once again we check into Martin Merrill’s book “How To Make Women Laugh.” The two parts are the body of the joke or the “Set Up” and the ending more commonly known as the “Punch Line.” And the more conflicting these two parts are, the more opposite they are, the more powerful the joke becomes at producing a laugh. In a word….it all boils down to one thing….
It’s very simple, if you don’t deliver a surprise at the end….it’s not really a joke. There is no conflict inside the brain to create a reaction of laughter. Your so-called joke usually comes off making you look like a friggin Dork trying to be funny. “Dude, you now know the secret to stop looking like a Dork!!
Have you ever seen a really good movie with a killer twist at the end? You know the kind that really makes you go wow, it makes for a really good and interesting movie that you want to tell all your friends about. What is it about the twist at the end that makes it so compelling and good?? Well it’s the surprise of course.
If you only learn one thing about humor make sure it is this… Surprise. Let’s go back and review the two jokes again. The first one….the lame one. Guess how it started out? “Hey, what do you get when you….” or the ever popular and just as lame “Hey did you hear the one about….(zzzzzzz) Hmmm, when ever you hear those words you can see and smell a joke coming from a mile away. Geez, so much for surprise. These joke telling beginnings takes away our # 1 best weapon of a good joke, doesn’t it?

Now with the 2nd joke, I started out just having a normal conversation with a girl I met at a party. I was just making the normal fluff talk with her, waiting for an entry point in the conversation. An entry point that I could very smoothly and subtly inject this humorous story without her ever suspecting a thing. I will repeat that “Without her ever suspecting a thing.”
That entry point came when she commented on her friend being a nurse. I don’t even have a friend who went through medical school but that doesn’t matter. What really matters is her little bit of info on her girlfriend gave me a golden opportunity to tell my “Veterinary Story.” So this was my entry point.
The key to the veterinary story is that the joke became a seamless smooth RELATED part of the conversation (she mentioned her friend and I started talking about my friend, what normal people do at parties) And I was setting her up to piss herself laughing with nothing more than just a normal conversation. Flying under the radar undetected is a fantastic way to deliver a joke or humorous story.
The two conflicting thoughts rolling around inside the head really frazzles the mind of a person. You’re taking the person’s mind down one path and then bang in a split second you have just jumped tracks and are now going in a completely different direction. This is classic misdirection that is similar to what you would see from a skilled magician. But instead we are dealing with verbal magic so this is “slight of mouth.”
When you switch tracks suddenly at the end of a joke with a good punch line, there is a moment of confusion in the brain. The mind doesn’t like this and it frantically tries to correct this confusion. So guess what becomes the pressure relief valve? That’s right….it’s laughter, and it becomes a very welcome response. And so is the person who is delivering it….YOU.
This is an incredibly overlooked powerful psychological tool that can be used with all people you come in contact with, not just women.
Now it is really cool to be able to create this magic on demand whenever you want. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to recognize and understand what makes a good effective joke. But you can’t be funny 24/7. That seems a little bit odd, you start appearing like some sort of clown. You will also need to develop some good social and conversation skills, to get to those entry points that allow you to slip humor into a conversation without anyone ever knowing what hit them.

One of the most amazing things in “What Makes Women Laugh” you’ll find on page 45. Here Martin gets into the science of what makes women laugh. He goes on to say…
“After devoting the past 5 years of my life to study the science of making women laugh, I came to the conclusion that human being’s reactions to different types of “humor stimuli” are predictable. And there are tested and proven methods to match a humorous line and a subject’s education, personality, and cultural background to create laughter.”
Did you catch that? He goes on to show you how to read your subject (the girl) like a book. And come up with the most effective way to make her laugh, and kick starting the attraction stage into overdrive.
On page 78 you’ll find “End With The Funniest Joke.” If you ever watch a professional comedian, magician, or a band, they always end on a high. They always leave their audience wanting more.
Martin goes on to say “ Deliver your funniest joke at the end of your meeting….If you stop at the right moment she’ll keep on thinking about you when you’re not around. And it’s during that period she’ll fall in love with you.”
I have read psychological studies that prove this point.
How effective is this? Here is what has happened to me. When I end on a high at the end of the first meeting (usually a coffee date), her mind starts racing in overdrive and now it is always the girl who is phoning and bugging me when we can get together again.
Okay let’s flip to page 120 where we will find “Announce Your Next Move.” He should have titled this section “How To Create Incredible Sexual Tension,” in this part Martin tells us “Announce to a woman your next move. And it has to be “socially acceptable” as well as stated in a playful and exaggerating manner.”
“It creates a funny moment because the woman knows what you want yet she can’t really reject your next move because “you’re just kidding.” And once she laughs, she can’t possibly decline you as it’ll be inconsistent.”
This one example is an absolute killer for creating sexual tension in a girl…good sexual tension. But I found a way to make it even better. As your conversation continues and you get to know her a bit better….I want you to do this.
While talking to her, divert your attention to the top of her left shoulder. Say to her “Hold still a minute” and then start moving into her as if you are going to kiss her. Now here is the key… when you get to about 18” away from her head stop and reach out with you right hand and brush some imaginary “Lint” off her shoulder.
At this point she is wondering what you are up to. That’s when you say “Don’t panic, I was only going to kiss you….that’s all.” And say it with a smile.
Every human has personal space around him or her. When it gets to approximately 18 inches it becomes “Intimate Space.” What you have just done is go in and test the boundaries of her space. You teased her for a brief second and pulled back, but you did it with an extremely attentive gesture that most women just love.
I have noticed amazing results with this technique. It really does create sexual tension and anticipation with women when you do it this way. I even tried it on an ex-girlfriend one night at a party we both showed up at, and guess what….she ended up grabbing me and planting a kiss on me, while her boyfriend was downstairs no less. That night I became a real believer in this technique. You’ve got to try this out for yourself as soon as possible.

In this section called “Get Sexual….Talk About It” Martin explains…. “When sex is combined with humor, it is rarely offensive. So don’t be afraid to talk about it – in fact, you should talk about it. That’s where you want to end up, isn’t it?”
“You should gradually increase the sexual tension between the two of you, so that the entire process of “sexual escalation” feels perfectly natural to her.”
Now one of the ways of increasing sexual tension is by touching her. But you can’t jump in and start fondling her like some “Central Park Pervert”. There is a right and wrong way to touch her, and Martin explains it all in detail.
Okay, let’s say you’re having a good conversation with a girl, and she asks you how your day is going. Then you say something like this. “Well to tell you the truth I’ve had better days, this morning I was doing push-ups in the nude…..aaaand I forgot about that mousetrap!”
This joke is really effective at generating a laugh and is a fantastic set up, here’s why….You have created a positive environment where it is socially acceptable for her to think about your manhood with out her feeling like a trashy Ho.
This joke originated from the God Father of one-liners, Rodney Dangerfield. And it has been a valuable weapon in my bag of tricks when meeting women. But when you do this with a group of girls it has an even more powerful effect, because each one of them knows what the other one is thinking about and they start laughing more to cover up their embarrassment. They all know the dirty little secret that’s on their minds.
Don’t kid yourself dude, studies prove that women size you up as a potential lover within minutes, sometimes within seconds. So, I like to give them something lusty to think about…if you know what I mean.
